Fertile
past unearthed from sands of Arabia
The life of people in
Arabic Peninsula who travelled out to Africa to populate the rest of the world.
Professor Michael Petraglia said that “The Arabian Peninsula is the stepping
stone out of Africa”(p1). A huge amount of funding is provided from the European
Research Council to locate and excavate all over the peninsula and they have
joined with specialists in Oman and the UAE. Another theory said that people came
from Africa into Saudi Arabian and from Sinai to the Levant. The first step is
to identify historic and prehistoric water sources, while the other step is
walk alongside the lakes, using photographs because the terrain is
inaccessible. This nomadic, hunter-gatherer lifestyle meant they had to keep
moving from area to another to survive. Climate change impacted their life and
this is just as important today.
